According to social media posts, Russian air forces are firing missiles into Ukrainian airspace. The international media has also confirmed Russia’s air raids, particularly in Kyiv, Ukraine’s capital.
Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, says the country hasn’t seen such attacks since 1941.
By text message, Anton Gerashchenko, adviser to Ukraine’s Minister of Internal Affairs, informed reporters.
According to Ukraine’s deputy defense ministry, one missile was shot out of the sky by the country’s anti-missile defense systems.

Another missile hit a residential building in the city, and a Ukrainian jet, an SU-27, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile in a separate incident, according to the Ukrainian government.

CNN reporters report hearing two large explosions in central Kyiv, as well as a third loud explosion in the distance. The Kyiv Independent’s defense reporter, Illia Ponomarenko, tweeted.
Kyiv is now expected to sustain Russia a missile assault.
