Police Officer demanding bribe in viral video dismissed and de-kitted

Nigeria Police Force has dismissed Officer in the viral video trending online demanding a bribe.

Inspector Richard Gele who was caught in a recent video justifying extortion of a motorist on July 25th

The Police inspector, with AP//No. 188547, who until his dismissal from the police force was attached to Police Mobile Force 77 Squadron, Okene, Kogi State, and was deployed to the Itobe – Anyigba Road, for the safety of road users and commuters, plying that route, where the ugly incident occurred.

Mr. Richard Gele who hails from Benue state was admitted to the police in September 2000.

His dismissal came after he was found wanting of the charges leveled against him by the internal disciplinary mechanism under extant law governing the conduct of police personnel.

In a press statement released by the CPS Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Reads.

He is, therefore, ceased to be a member of the Nigeria Police force with immediate effect. The office in question has been de-kitted and handed over to the commissioner of police in Kogi State, for further action.

“The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Usman Alkali Baba, while expressing the utmost commitment of his administration at bequeathing policing standard in standard with the international best practice to the nation, has issued a stern warning to all personnel eschew extortion, unprofessionalism, official corruption, and other inappropriate acts. the IGP also urged them to display exemplary courage and patriotism in the discharge of their duties.”
