Massive waves crashes into wedding in Hawaii and sends guests running for cover (video)
A wedding was cut short when rough waters overtook the celebration, sending tables and chairs crashing toward guests.
On Saturday, July 16, when the wedding was taking place in Kailua-Kona, huge waves crashed into Hawaii’s south coasts, destroying homes and businesses and spilling across highways before crashing into the wedding location and sending guests running.
In a video that was posted online, wedding guests can be seen watching the waves come in but staying put until they crash into the venue before taking off.
Author Sara Ackerman, who grew up in Hawaii and was present at the wedding, captured footage of the waves as they smashed ashore.
She said: “It just was huge,. I was filming it and then it just came over the wall and just completely annihilated all the tables and chairs.”
About five minutes before the ceremony was supposed to start, according to her, it happened.
She added: “It wasn’t like a life-threatening situation by any means whatsoever. “Oh my my, what are we going to do?” was all that could be said. Where will we place the tables?
She claimed that after the couples exchanged vows, they continued with the ceremony and cleaned up the mess.
She remarked, “We had the ceremony and it was lovely, having all the (sea) spray.” “The sea was extremely untamed. Thus, it was perfect for taking pictures.”
