Fast-rising Nigerian singer Portable, has responded to the Headies’ statement condemning his murder threat to his other nominees if he does not win the award.
Portable claimed in a video shared on his page a few days after the 2022 Headies nominee list was released that nothing would stop him from winning the award.
Portable, who was nominated for ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Best Street-Hop Artiste,’ vowed whomever beats him to the honors will be killed.
Dissatisfied with the singer’s threats, the Headies organizers vowed to disqualify him and demanded a retraction and apology in a statement released on Friday night.
In response to the comment, Portable apologized for the death threat in a video posted to his Facebook page earlier this morning, saying he wasn’t intending to fight anyone and was only joking.
Portable recognized that he had made a mistake and expressed regret for using such comments.
He insisted, however, that the Headies organizers grant him a spot and an award because he is currently taking over the streets.
