It is not everything that should be posted on the social media. Especially, when it has to do with evidence of financial transactions.
And, that is why two of the stars in the Yoruba movie industry, Eniola Badmus and Iyabo Ojo should be cautioned. Because, they have both posted screenshots of credit alerts of huge sums of money coming into their bank accounts on their verified Instagram handle
Few days ago, Iyabo Ojo posted credit alert of Five Hundred Thousand Naira purportedly from Tiwa Savage as a support for her late mum’s burial party that she (Iyabo Ojo) is said to be planning. And on Wednesday, November 3rd, 2021, Eniola Badmus too posted screenshot of a credit alert to the tune of Ten Million Naira claimed to be from a lady in support of her 20 years on stage celebration, as an actress, that she is planning.
But then, while it is good to appreciate gifts and generosity from people, there should be a limit to how what is given as the gift should be exposed. Especially, when it is monetary gift. Because, when the receipt of such huge funds are posted on a public platforms, it could actually constitute a serious security risk to the person who posted it. With such post, you have simply told everyone that you are in possession of such huge fund. And, you don’t know the mind of everyone.
Worse still, in this era of kidnapping for ransome in the country, the actress should pipe down on exhibiting their financial status, or viability on the social media. Though, they may feel they are doing so to appreciate the giver of the gift, but it also has its security risk. The financial gift can easily be appreciate by simply posting that everyone should thank certain person for them due to their generosity towards them, without stating how much is involved or posting screenshots of credit alerts.
Even, apart from the security risk, some of the people seeing the post may even feel somewhat oppressed that in an economy that people are finding it hard to make ends meet, someone is just receiving huge sum of money for a party or celebration. But, that is even on the minor part of it.
The security risk is what the movie stars should be wary of, because all manner of people are on the social media. And, they don’t know what those people do for a living, even those living in the same neighbourhood with the actresses.
So, posting evidence of financial transactions or screenshots of credit alerts by them should be seriously discouraged.
