As Muslims all over the world mark the Eid Fitri Celebration this weekend, Muhammadu Buhari to conduct the Eid prayers with his family at home and not at any of the prayer grounds where he has over the previous years joined the Muslims for the Eid Congregational prayers.
According to a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the president on media and publicity, Garba Shehu,says the decision of the president is in line with
Lockdown measure in the FCT, that was in place, to contain the spread of the Covid-19 virus.
According to Garba Shehu, the president is also obeying the directives I’d the Sultan of Sokoto and president General of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI), Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III
putting suspension to the Eid Congregational prayers across the country as well as the protocol against social gathering issued by the presidential Task force on Covid-19.
The Spokesperson to the presidential Task force, stated that the president who has traditionally shared beautiful moments with top government officials, political, leaders, community heads, Muslim and Christians religious leaders and children, will not be recieving these homage in a bid to cocktail the spread of the Covid-19 from spreading more in the nation.
